DD is 6mo and FF. She has pretty much always had a bottle every three hours during the day and then usually wakes once for a couple of ounces between 6.30pm and 6.30am.
I started at 5mo giving her finger foods just to try, like a brocoli floret or melon wedge, but now she is at 6mo I would like to start her on a bit of a routine of fitting in food and reducing bottles. I know with BLW they advise simply giving her stuff when I ear but I dont really eat to any sort of schedule myself at the moment (though am happy to start one if it's best we both always eat together).
DInner is always after she goes to bed, but I keep her some leftovers for lunch the next day. So, she has bottles 6.30 / 9.30 / 12.30 / 3.30 and 6.30 (roughly). Is it worth me moving to a four hourly cycle and offering her foods in bewteen, or do I scrap that and fit bottles in around a food 'plan'?
Can you tell I like systems and order
thankfully dd does too.
Also, she's always had a last bottle literally at bedtime, but today wanted milk at 5/5.15 so by bedtime wouldn't want any milk. Instead I did up a little baby porridge and she had that about 6pm...is this OK, or do I need to keep milk as a last drink before bed? Fwiw, we offered her milk incase she wanted it, on going down and she obviously refused.
Similarly, her night wakings, she wakes at 4/4.30am, sometimes is happy with a dummy and sometimes I give her 2/3 oz and then she wakes as normal 6.30 for a full feed.
I loved having our little routine, and am thinking I need a new one now for adding food into the mix.
When she was just on milk, she would have 5 bottles in a 24hr period of around 7oz (so 35oz ish) and now we have been adding in food she's drinking less at each 3hr feed so is down to arund 25.
What are your routines, and can you suggest where we start with this?
