What's your food / bottle routine 6m+?

DD is 6mo and FF. She has pretty much always had a bottle every three hours during the day and then usually wakes once for a couple of ounces between 6.30pm and 6.30am.

I started at 5mo giving her finger foods just to try, like a brocoli floret or melon wedge, but now she is at 6mo I would like to start her on a bit of a routine of fitting in food and reducing bottles. I know with BLW they advise simply giving her stuff when I ear but I dont really eat to any sort of schedule myself at the moment (though am happy to start one if it's best we both always eat together).

DInner is always after she goes to bed, but I keep her some leftovers for lunch the next day. So, she has bottles 6.30 / 9.30 / 12.30 / 3.30 and 6.30 (roughly). Is it worth me moving to a four hourly cycle and offering her foods in bewteen, or do I scrap that and fit bottles in around a food 'plan'?

Can you tell I like systems and order Blush thankfully dd does too.

Also, she's always had a last bottle literally at bedtime, but today wanted milk at 5/5.15 so by bedtime wouldn't want any milk. Instead I did up a little baby porridge and she had that about 6pm...is this OK, or do I need to keep milk as a last drink before bed? Fwiw, we offered her milk incase she wanted it, on going down and she obviously refused.

Similarly, her night wakings, she wakes at 4/4.30am, sometimes is happy with a dummy and sometimes I give her 2/3 oz and then she wakes as normal 6.30 for a full feed.

I loved having our little routine, and am thinking I need a new one now for adding food into the mix.

When she was just on milk, she would have 5 bottles in a 24hr period of around 7oz (so 35oz ish) and now we have been adding in food she's drinking less at each 3hr feed so is down to arund 25.

What are your routines, and can you suggest where we start with this?

Should say, while we do finger foods, dd also has 'mushy' stuff on a spoon for her to feed herself si us actually taking in good amounts of food.

Hi there. My little girl is nearly 8 months now and, from weaning at 6 months, we have worked up to the following routine.

7.30am - breastfeed.
8.30am - breakfast.
9.00am - nap (approx 1.5 hrs).
11.00am - breastfeed.
12.00pm - lunch.
1.00pm - nap (approx 1 hr).
2.30pm - breastfeed.
4.30pm - dinner.
6.30pm - bath, breastfeed, bed.

She set this herself and it works really well for us. I started by offering food at lunchtime, then over the weeks, added a breakfast and dinner.

I hope you sort out something that works for you too xx

I'm in exactly the same boat DS is 6 months next week is taking 2 meals a day but still 5 7oz bottles and is still waking at night and will not go back to sleep without a further bottle. He was always on exactly the same 3 hourly feeds as you describe but has now hit the 99th centile and have been told to reduce down to 20oz a day. No idea how to do that so would be interested in what feedback u get. How big is your lo?

She was last weighed at 5.5m and was 16lb.

Last night she woke at 3am and dh gave her a full feed (Im going to suggest a half bottle in the nights) then woke at 7.30 - 7oz.....porridge and toast at 9.30....milk at 11 - 6oz...pasta at 1....milk at 3.30 - 7oz and an going to give her some fruit etc at 5 then her bedtime bottle as usual at 6.15

We started with BLW at 6mo. So DD had broccoli, sweet potato wedges, cooked baby courgettes, pear, breadsticks, cheese sticks etc but after a few weeks I couldn't let her sink her face into a yoghurt pot (!) and thought she wasn't eating enough protein or fats with BLW so I started doing some spoon feeding too. Working a treat.

DD is 8mo now and day goes...

6am - wake
6:30 - bf
7:30 - 1/2 weetabix with half a carton of formula (using no. 1 as the others made her too constipated)
8:30 nap (1 1/2 hours)
10:30 - small banana or yoghurt with other half of formula carton
1:00 - lunch (depends but usually some finger food, eg baby corn, sweet potato wedges, breadstick, watermelon, mango etc and something spoon fed eg butternut squash & lentil, soup but thicker so like a purée or cheese sandwich finger on wholemeal bread)
2:00 - nap (1 - 1 1/2 hours)
3:30 - bf
5:30 dinner (fish pie, shep.pie, pasta, baked fish, cauliflower cheese etc) and some finger food, usually some veg.
6:00 - nap if needed (1/2 hour)
7:15 - bath
7:30 - bf and bed

I don't feed at night now and need to drop my 3:30 bf before I go back to work in Aug. Plan on just bf morning and night when I'm back at work until DD wants to stop.

Hope this helps!?
