Hi

Dd is now 11 months. Was ebf for 6 months and weaned without issues.

She is now, on a typical day, fed the following:

8am - yoghurt or fruit or cereal plus 4oz formula
11am - 4oz milk
1pm - lunch ellas kitchen stage 2/3 pouch and fruit and ellas kitchen biscuits/snacks and 4 oz milk
3pm - 4oz milk
5pm - dinner plus yoghurt and 4oz milk
7pm - bedtime 6oz milk

She sleeps 7-7

My few questions are:

  • she will only drink from a bottle, i have tried all types of cup and beaker etc......should I just go with her or is she too young to grasp a beaker?
  • ive kept ellas kitchen in business since i started weaning......am I a crap mum?
  • when can I start to introduce cows milk?
  • she does feed herself lots now and is fussy when spoonfed. Should I just give up the spoonfeeding?

Thanks in advance x

Have you tried putting handles on your bottle as a first stage? Worked for me
Cows milk from one year
Ellas kitchen is handy you just need to move slowly across to whatever you are eating. I hope it doesn't make u a pants mum as that makes me one too Grin

Bump - I'm interested in how to get my dd to drink from a beaker too. I'm just pouring it in for her but it goes everywhere.

I can answer the question about Ellas kitchen - you are most definitely not a crap mum. Nothing wrong with using jars/pouches as long as baby enjoys them.

For the cup, you just have to keep offering. It looks like she's having meals and milk feeds separately. Have you tried just offering a cup of water at meal times? I started with a tommee tippee first cup from 6mo and it took to 10mo before DD will actively pick her cup up and drink from it. So it does take time. Just keep with the same cup, and trust they'll learn in the end. Because of this, I'd recommend a free flow or a straw type, because then you won't have to move from a soft spout (which is like a teat anyway) onto something that's better for their teeth.

As for the Ella Kitchen. It definitely doesn't make you a crap mum. Can I ask if you are cooking for yourself? If that's the case, just offer what you are cooking, mush it up with a fork or a handheld blender if you need to. Kinder for your pockets in any case! If you are buying convienient meals or takeaways anyway, then Ella Kitchen is just the same thing, but especially made for babies. And it's better than the salt laden takeaways for her.

At 11mo there's no need to even mush it up a bit - just give her what you're having! Much cheaper than pouches.
