My son is 23wks and more than ready for BLW he has had some soft boiled carrot, cucumber and also rusk and he loved it all! I understand that tomato and strawberries can cause allergic reactions in some but is it advised to wait until 26wks to give these or could I give them now?
Thanks in advance

Hello! tomato and strawberries are known allergens, and are also very acidic. We waited until 6 months, but it is really a personal choice! If you would like to offer just keep an eye out for any tummy trouble and rashes.

We offered tomato at 6 months and he had an awful instant reaction... hives on face and hands, massive puffy face, itching, it was really scary! I haven't let it put us off BLW though. We are just avoiding it unti 1, and offer everything else.

Enjoy!

Well I gave him half a small strawberry to have a go on and he sucked and liked that but wasn't keen on the actually flesh breaking off in his mouth as he spat it back at me lol!
Going to try broccoli and sweet potato later Grin

If you're worried about allergies, pediatricians advise giving one new food at a time and waiting 3 days so if their is a reaction, you know what caused it. I stuck mostly to root veg and cooked apples and pears for a couple of weeks I think, then just went all in. I was a bit cautious about gluten and waited to after 26 weeks. ( started at 24/25 weeks )
Have fun
