BLW - feel like I'm going backwards!

DS is 8.5m, been blw since 6m. He started off SOOOOOO well, tried everything, got a fair amount in etc. A few weeks ago I also thought he was really beginning to EAT as well, if you know what I mean, rather than just gum/taste/make mess. Then over the last couple of weeks he has just started being so much more fussy. THings regularly just go over the side of the high chair without even being put to his mouth. The only things he will generally reliably eat at the moment is yoghurt, fruit pots and ready brek.....these being the 3 things that we do spoon feed him! Oh and actual fruit which he loves, but even that gets tossed earlier than usual now. Sometimes I wish I was just spoon feeding him!

He also still hardly drinks any water (use tommee tippee free flow and doidy cups but I have to do it for him as he just throws them around) so I worry about how much fluid he is getting and also when he will ever actually start drinking properly! Am waiting for the nice weather to return so I can stick him outside with a beaker and just let him figure it out - hopefully. He is still just breastfed, but he has definitely cut down.

As an example for lunch today he had a crumpet, scrambled eggs with muchrooms and tomatoes, a plum, a slice of pineapple, a yoghurt and a fruit pot. He ate probably half the crumpet, touched a bit of scrambled egg to his lips and then chucked it and ignored the rest (he does not seem too keen on egg dishes really, omlette, frittata etc) He gummed the plum a bit, ate most of the pineapple and then sat back happily while I fed him the yoghurt, still seemed hungry so I gave him a fruit pot too.

So it feels like 90% of his diet at the moment is fruit and yoghurt, most of which he is spoon fed! This is really not where I thought I would be. Is it a phase? I think we just got off to such a flying start and I suppose I expected/hoped that it would just continue getting better, and feel a bit meh about the fact its gone a bit rubbish!

Anyone else experienced similar?

Some DC don't really 'get' solid food until they are 9/10 months so I would not worry. The saying is 'food is fun until they are one' so as long as you are BF then your DS is getting what he needs. Is he teething at all. This can often have an effect on how much he eats. I find all my DS go through times of eating loads or eating hardly anything at all. Just offer a bit of everything, don't give up, and don't stop offering variety. The throwing the water around is very normal too!

All sounds normal Grin

Aagh over a week later and still in the same boat. He ate plenty of ready brek this morning (fed to him by me) and half a nectarine. For lunch he ate a bit of blueberry pancake, licked the philly off a rice cake and ate most of a yoghurt (fed by me) For dinner he completely ignored the veg and chicken risotto (except for accidentally picking up some red pepper - I think he thought it might have been some strawberry) but ate 3 strawberries, a yoghurt and a fruit pot.

I feel like I must be doing something wrong, and I'm worried that he hardly eats any vegetables or meat :-(

He is teething Lorisparkle, he has been on and off for 4 months now!! (But still has not a single tooth!) I did wonder if that might be affecting his eating, but he seems generally ok with it, just a bit grumpy sometimes.

I am worried I am just taking the easy route by feeding him yoghurts and fruit, and he will never start eating 'properly' again!
