hello all, DD is nearly 5 months and is ebf. also a bottle refuser so i'm looking forward to trying to get to eat/drink anything other than milk from my boob.

over the last week or so she has been waking once or twice in the night when she previously slept through. i first thought it was the heat but now i'm not so sure as she is definitely hungry when she wakes up. she is usually quite relaxed in the morning but she now seems ravenous after a six hour stretch... her bottom two teeth are looking like they might pop though the gum soon too...

is it time to try her with some mashed banana or baby porridge or not? cheers folks :)

The current advice is to wait till baby is 6 months so that the gut is mature enough to handle solids.

If a baby is ready to start weaning, then she should be able to sit up unaided and be able to grab things and bring them to her mouth.

Oh my 6 month old has woken tons every night since birth. What's your secret?

OhWhatAPalaver · 01/06/2012 10:57

peatarty my secret is merely a sleeping bag! first night we put her in one she slept through, genius invention!

i saw HV yesterday and she advised to wait a bit longer as she might have just been having a growth spurt. she has grown a lot recently and she only woke once last night due to a leaky nappy so i am hoping that she will be a bit more settled again now... i'm going to give it another few weeks i reckon. she cant quite sit up yet but she is putting everything she can see in her mouth so we're halfway there! :)

Aww we have her in sleeping bag already. Must just be my daughter! I'm muchly jealous, I am a sleep-deprived zombie after 6 months of broken sleep. Anyway -not the topic!

I'd follow advice to wait until independently sitting etc. for weaning . 6 months is a lovely age isn't it? So interactive :)
