Too much milk?

Dc is almost 8mo. Ff and on ~ 4x 7oz bottles a day. But he as also been waking up more frequent at night& drinking a lot.

Eg y'day eve:
7oz at bedttime1930 ish
6oz when he woke at 2330
6oz at 3am
Up at 630.

Little milk at 7 & mo surprise not interested in breakfast.

Weaning since 6mo. Combo of purees& finger food. And what we are having eg rice with sauce&added cream/cheese while he has pieces of meat to 'eat'(suck on!) himself' pasta & sauce, homemade quiche/omelette.

Am I giving him too much milk&so his appetite is too poor?

Am I not giving enough calories as he can't get enough in w BLW?

Should I rather not feed during the night. Try boiled water?

Also posted on sleep thread:could this be sleep regression/developmental phase? Been trying to get him back in the habit of self settling with varying success.

Any advice welcome!

Think at this age he should be having around 20oz of milk in 24 hours, but this is just average and babies will have growth spurts and developmental spurts which will make them take more milk.

Don't think its the fault of BLW. Solids really shouldn't be replacing milk feeds yet, it's more about exploring textures and flavours. Also solid food has less calories than the formula.

Have you had him measured too? Personally don't thnk that having lots of milk is a problem if is in proportion.

If him waking for feeds is an issue for you did you know that half of 12 month olds still wake at night, so what he is doing is normal. Thought that you might also like 31 ways to get your baby to sleep and stay asleep Smile.

My dd is almost 7 months and tends to have 7oz ff at 7.30am, 11.30, 3 and then 7pm bedtime. She eats 3 'meals' a day. She sometimes does wake in the night but I give dummy back and she goes back to sleep. I don't think she could take anymore milk or she would be sick.
Perhaps try just a cup of water for night wakings?
