Hi my DS will be 6 months tomorrow, and is showing all the signs that he is ready for weaning.

We started 2 weeks ago, 1st week with breakfast (cereals or fruits), then 2nd week we also added a dinner (root veg). The 1st week his poo didn't change very much, however since adding in the root veg at dinner time he has gone from 1 poo a day (clay like) to about 6 (very different - not much each time but very bit like). As a result he is getting nappy rash.

Is this a normal part of weaning in that his stomach needs adjusting? Or did I add the dinner to soon?

Cheers

I'd say it was normal. Root vegetables usually come out in different stages of digestion at first, you could always try offering something else to see if it changes things.

If he's got nappy rash try Metanium, fab stuff Smile.

Thanks I have just bought the metanium so hopefully that will cure the nappy rash.

I had been given the Anabel Karmel book so was following the advice with regards with the root vegetable but will start trying different foods out... especially as from tomorrow he will officially be 'allowed' lots of different foods :)
