DD2 has just started BLW - she's fantastic at getting food to her mouth, is now chewing pretty well, but how often she gags is quite frankly, making me very, very unhappy with the process! She's 6 months old
I did purees with DD1, and that went very well, and she has always ate virtually everything (she's now 6).
DD2 was started with purees and didn't seem impressed at all! I do spoon feed her yoghurt and some fruit purees, and she loves to hold her own spoon, and can guide it to her mouth well.
She does seem to enjoy holding the food, and playing with it - although doesn't seem to eat much at all, but I know that's perfectly fine.
I hate the thought of her choking, and part of me feels like I'm taking a risk everytime I give her a piece of food - yet the logical side of me knows that the gag reflex on a baby is very efficient, so I really shouldn't worry.
She coped brilliantly with some toast this morning, and then bit of pitta with tuna, and some wedges of avocado. I made a beef goulash yesterday, and gave her a hunk of meat, but was on tenterhooks as she gummed it - hardly ate any of it, and the chunks that broke off looked like they'd choke her. How do you give them meat???
Please talk some sense into me - I'm not normally this neurotic!
