Sausages

Is there a recommended age that you should wait until to offer sausages? I notice Annabel Karmel has left them out of her book (Weaning). What age did you first offer sausages to your DCs? My DS is 10.5 months and I am trying to give him more things that can be self-fed - I was thinking of making little patties with onion, apple and a bit of sausage meat. Is he too young for this?

My DS first ate a sausage just before age 1 - Xmas dinner :) However, knowing what I know now about the contents of sausages I wouldn't be so keen.

Your own home-made burgers sound okay though. He would be able to hold them himself too.

My dd loves them and was offered at 7 months. I do buy good ones though - at least 80% pork.

Home made burgers are also a winner

Other than sausage skins being possibly a little difficult to eat, so easy to get around, there's no reason not to feed a baby a sausage, other than possible reasons why you wouldn't eat a sausage.
