Weaning on holiday

We're starting weaning on 10th May when our daughter will be 6 months old and will be going on holiday to stay with some family on 31 May for 5 or 6 days. So we're starting to think about how we might go about feeding her whilst we are there. This also happens to be the week we were thinking about introducing meat to her diet (all being well).

The journey there is 3hr30 mins + breaks, our first thought was taking frozen purees in a freezer bag with freezer blocks but we're unsure if they will last the duration of the journey. We also thought we could just make them while we are there but we won't actually be at the house very much, will mostly be out and about and wonder if it might be more tricky intriducing meat. We have considered just using jars but are not so keen of her first taste of meat being from jars.

So we're just umming and ahhing what to do and also perhaps if we should just wait another week to introduce meat. Can I ask what other people have done?

Forget the purees and do baby led weaning - then you can just throw her a chunk of whatever you are eating (within reason)!

Thanks, that would be a good idea but we don't want to do baby led.

What are you going to be eating whilst in holiday? If whoever is cooking could just set aside some of the food for you to blend or mash. You could also make some fresh purees on the day you leave, take them in a cool bag then freeze when you get there. Also I'm sure a few jars or pouches won't do any harm, and you van give all sorts of finger foods alongside purees even if baby led weaning isn't your thing.
