DD's weaning spoons taste of soap: anyone else?

I have these weaning spoons for DD. They are the soft rubbery plastic. At tea time today, I polished off the rest of her rice pudding after she decided she'd had enough, and I noticed it tasted a bit weird. Turns out it is the spoon that tastes of soap. It's gross. I've checked all the others and they are the same.

I do put them in the dishwasher, I thought that was OK but perhaps not? Tommee Tippee have just changed their range so I can't find any packaging to check. Has anyone else got any experience of this? Is it dangerous?

Weird are you me? I had the exact same thought just the other day while polishing off DDs left over rice pud. I came to the conclusion it must have been putting them in the dishwasher that did it. I'm going to hand wash (snooze!) for a while and see if the taste fades. No wonder she's gone off yoghurt and rice pud!

I haven't checked which spoons you're referring to, but are they silicone by any chance? I've been on a baking frenzy recently, and noticed a soapy taste to my silicone spatula and anything cooked in a silicone tray. Was thinking of posting to see if anyone else had experienced it!

I've got those spoon and recently dd has not been as keen on food from a spoon, preferring to use fingers instead. I will be checking if they taste of soap in the morning! How weird!

Yes I think they are silicone, lucamom, perhaps that's it. I will be buying some standard hard plastic ones this afternoon, can't bear to think that poor DD has been eating soapy tasting food for the last 2 months. Sad
That said, she eats pretty much anything, so perhaps she likes soap? Confused

I've just noticed this with the tommee tippee ones too, they taste of dishwasher tablets, if that makes sense. Got loads of them too.

Noticed this on DS's beaker (Nuby) as I stole some of his water and that is hand washed....poor bub!

I found that DD's cup tasted of water when I had to taste her water during airport security. I was hand washing so changed to Ecover which doesn't have such a strong scent.

Oh dear I have those spoons too.
