When/how to drop a milk feed?

My 7mo daughter and I have fallen in to quite a neat little routine...

Wake up - bf in bed
8.30am - breakfast (baby cereal)
11am - bf
12.30pm - lunch (mix of purees and finger foods)
3pm - bottle
5pm - supper (as lunch)
7pm - bottle after bath
7.30pm - bed

My question is ... now that she's fully established on 3 full meals a day, should I be dropping a milk feed? Some places I have seen that the 11am feed doesn't exist anymore. Have any of you had experience of dropping this? How did it go? Did your baby just stop wanting it? (My daughter is a bottomless pit when it comes to milk and food!)

If your DD needs to drop a feed then she will. If she still needs it she won't Grin and she's only having 4 milk feeds a day that's not that much to be honest.

All of my 3 were having around 12 milk feeds a day under 12m with 3 meals too (and snacks). None of them were more than the 50th%ile either for weight. They dropped off feeds as they got older though.

we are in the same position with pretty much the same routine also. my ds loves his milk and food and ill keep giving him his milk until he stops wanting it. i dont thinjk itd be a good idea to just take one whole feed away as he would be minus 7oz per 24h and would end up hungrier!

Have similar routine DS is 6m and has started dropping feeds himself. Doesn't want bf after breakfast, often just has a small bf at 11, prefers a bf when he wakes after lunch and is now dropping his bedtime top up after bottle. Am quite sad as love bf him but pleased it is him doing it naturally. Kind of wish he would drop the 2,3,4,,5am attempts to get me to feed him Grin

I'm looking for related advice on this. DD 8.5months is BLW was having FF at 7, 11, 3 and 7. For the past few weeks she's been properly eating, so a HV recommended that I drop the mid-morning bottle and replace it with a snack to tide her over to lunch which we have at about 12.30. DD seems happy with this, however she rarely drinks more than 5oz of milk at a time, so with 3 bottles a day she's only drinking between 15 - 17oz milk. Is this enough? or should I reintroduce the bottle in the morning, perhaps alongside a snack?

I know this is one of those things that we get in a flap about but probably doesn't really matter that much, as long as DD seems happy and healthy. But interested to know what other people have done/think...

Min. rec volume of formula is 20oz so your HV shouldn't have told you to drop milk feeds and replace them with solids Shock Milk is more important than food for the under 12m group and should be their main source of kcals & nutrients. Milk feeds should be given around 1 hour before solids to avoid the solids becoming the main part of the diet in a baby under 12m.

Thanks Truth I have such a bad history of rubbish advice from HVs (partly why I'm FFing now rather than BFing :( ) I don't know why I listen to them anymore. Will give her back her morning bottle from today.

Sorry you have had such poor advice - is there another HV you can see (e.g. different baby clinic) or is it only one you are 'allowed' to see?
