Hello All

My LO would eat reasonably well before a recent tummy bug (& 4 teeth coming at once).

She now won't eat so many things her diet is so limited. Is this normal? She won't eat pasta, sandwiches, any kind of meat, sweetcorn and peas which used to be a favourite, cheese - I just feel like crying!

Oh and finally she seems, to have an addiction to breadsticks!! I think they comfort her aching gums but worried to the salt content...

Are the teeth properly through? Maybe it hurts her to eat. Teething gel to numb the gums a few minutes before might help. Otherwise I think you have to just plough on. I would be giving her what she likes, with one different thing on the plate.

My 18month son changes what he likes from one week to the next and I find I have a glut of stuff he previously stuffed down. Some weeks he lives on air, the next he empties my fridge. They're so fickle.

:( I just feel like crying as I worry about her vitamin intake (she also has no milk only water) I feel as if she is living off oat cakes, cereal and breadsticks!

greenone why are you worried about vitamin intake? Are you not supplementing. Its recommended by the NHS to do so. See this page. I remember a wee back when we have that publicity on vitamin D, the GP who always go on breakfast says we really really should give preschoolers multivitamins because of precisely what you are worried about. Most toddlers just don't have a good varied diet. It's probably very normal and shall pass when she's older.
