When did you start feeding your lo eggs and fish?

Weaning is going great and yet to come across anything ds2 won't eat.

But I can't remember when I started ds1 with eggs and fish.

Ds2 is nearly 8 months.

Thanks!

Don't think I held back at all. He's had both since 6 months.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 02/03/2012 12:52

Really?

I have a feeling I held off with ds1 but I truly can't remember.

Great if he can eat them now we eat fish and eggs a lot!

Smoked fish ok?

I think I held back until they were around 9 mths old.

Yes its all ok. You can give him anything except honey and whole nuts. Try some eggy bread. I think that was one of my son's most quickly shovelled in foods at that age. A bit of fish with a breadcrumb/herb/cheesy topping grilled is a good one.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 02/03/2012 13:09

Ooh eggy bread!! Ds2 is such a dough ball, he loves toast and bread so wonder if he'll like eggy bread? Mmm

We have mackerel and kedgeree quite regular, and tuna is always around. Boiled eggs a face of mine, omelettes for dh and ds1, so might try some fish or egg later with him, see how we get on.

Just re read and we sound like such a fragrant family!

Or even a fave-rather than a face of mine! Would hate to have an egg face option

I'd be interested to know what you put in the mackerel kedgeree. I've got mackerel for us tonight and having a bit of a blank moment.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 02/03/2012 13:25

Mackerel I normally do with pasta, scrambled eggs, sandwiches or on toast.

Kedgeree I use cobbler or any smoked fish which is on offer. Suppose you could use mackerel, but I've not tried it.

I boil some rice in water with a teaspoon of medium curry powder. Bake the fish and flake. Gently fry finely sliced onions until started to crisp a little. Boil a few eggs. Boil some peas. When it's all done put all the ingredients in an oven tray with about 5 teaspoons of milk, a big knob of butter, salt, pepper, cover and warm through for about twenty mins.

Sounds a faff but it's quite cheap, filling and good for you. Sounds a bit of a concoction too but it is nice - I promise!

Sounds good. I normally end up doing risotto so kedgeree would be a nice change. Thank you Smile

Offered everything apart from whole nuts and honey from 6mo. Didn't avoid any foods in particular, apart from high salt/sugar ones. Fish and eggs fine from 6mo (unless any allergy issues maybe?)

RandomHouseRules · 03/03/2012 22:07

First meat my DS had was freshly caught trout. He was about 6 months and 1 week. Has never had eggs as he's allergic (which we discovered while I was BFing and subsequently confirmed with RAST tests).
