Feeding a 13mth old after stomach bug

Hi All, my 13mth DS is recovering from a bout of stomach flu. Could anyone give me any suggestions on what to feed him? He's no longer vomiting, has some diarrhoea and is being bf. He is very difficult to feed at the best of times, even jars are met with reluctance! It's annoying because just before the bug hit, he was starting to eat more than the usual 2-3 spoons. I had just dropped the afternoon bf but have resumed this because he's ill.he's showing no interest in food apart from my Belvita biscuits?!?and the odd fruit pouch...

Toast with butter, mashed potato (no milk just butter), plain cereal without milk, oatmeal made with water at first, boiled rice with butter, pasta/noodles cooked in chicken stock with butter. Keep it plain.

Move onto mild chicken risotto, chicken noodle soup, banana, canned fruit such as pears or peaches, apple sauce, boiled or scrambled eggs, cooked veg such as carrots and beans, avocado.

Then onto adding milk products after a day of more variety so yoghurts, cottage cheese etc... Raw fruit too except citrus.

Leave citrus fruit until well recovered as the acid can irritate an already sore stomach lining.

Try the BRAT diet it's very good, bread, rice apples toast no butter or anything except a smudge on the toast , works for morning sickness and my DD 4 everytime xx

the B in Brat stands for banana (just saying!)

I always thought ther was a lot of bread

No problems, DD just had vomiting bug at Christmas so figured out what worked, don't rush it. I pushed DD on too quickly and she went back to vomiting after two days for 24 hours. I think it was because the food was too rich too soon.

My 13mo old has just had the same thing, so sympathy! She has basically lived on not very ripe bananas, plain rice, plain noodles and toast and marmite plus extra breast feeds for a week. Even pouches made her vomit. I introduced dairy back very very slowly and she's only just gone back to drinking cows milk. Always wondered what BRAT stood for, will add apples in the mix now!
