I want to make pancakes for 8mo DS tommorrow. Do I need to use whole milk in the batter - don't use it much and don't have any in!

Also - any good topping suggestions? want to avoid sugar...

thanks!

no, doesn't matter what milk you use, it's only a pancake or 2 :)

you could do savoury pancakes?
or fruit?

Timeoutofmind · 20/02/2012 21:10

I'm planning on peanut butter and banana pancakes!

Seona1973 · 20/02/2012 21:42

we are having scotch pancakes - much nicer! Probably with butter and jam although think ds wants his with nutella!

TruthSweet · 20/02/2012 21:47

I sometimes do cheese and ham/bacon and sweetcorn - yum!

Or you could fill with bramley apple (stewed until soft) or ordinary eating apples stewed if you don't have weird children like mine who will happily eat raw bramleys

Or try something like spinach and ricotta (roll up the filled pancakes like cannaloni (sp?) )and baked with a cheese sauce on top?

TruthSweet DD happily eats raw bramley's, no need for stewing... WEIRD!

jaffa19 · 21/02/2012 09:47

Thanks for the ideas! I think we'll do savoury cheese and ham! Yum. Looking forward to lunch time!

Savoury(ish):
Apple + bacon
Apple + cheese
Cheese
Cheese + ham
Cheese + mushrooms

Sweet:
Banana + peanutbutter
Raisins
Icing sugar

I'm Dutch by the way, we love our pancakes :o

My DS had pancake with raspberries, blueberries and banana.

TruthSweet · 21/02/2012 19:54

DD1 had pancakes with squirty cream and golden syrup, DD2 had hers plain and DD3 had just squirty cream. They are 5, 4 & 2 in my defense Wink
