I have just started to wean my 6 month old last week on puree and she is refusing to eat she just holds the food in her mouth and cries. I have tried fruit and veg.I also tried finger foods of brocoli, banana and carrot and she just threw them on the floor. I am wondering if I am feeding her at the right times. I have tried after and in between a milk feed as my health visitor told me but no joy. And as my Health visitor told me i am aiming for a couple of spoonfuls for breakfast ,lunch and dinner. Is this to much? Any advice gratefully recieved

I would just keep offering. If she is putting it in her mouth at least she is tasting it, and throwing things means she is touching food Grin
Try not to get stressed - easier said than done
Takes a few goes before you succeed - I guess it's like as an adult being offered something you had never tasted before - you might touch it, smell it, try a bit and spit it out

dd2 refused food until 8 months - just offer things but don't worry if she's not interested. by 12 months dd2 was a fantastic eater who literally would eat anything put in front of her.

I would leave it a few days/week and try again. Not all babies are ready at 6 months, just as some will be ready before.
Perhaps Keep offering finger food until then rather than purées. If you just offer a little bit of what you are having for your meal, then it is not so upsetting when if food gets lobbed on the floor as you haven't specially prepared it

As long as she is still getting milk I wouldn't worry too much just keep offering finger foods and purees with no pressure just let her have a feel get her hands in it rather than spoon feeding x she will try and eat and get interested in her own time the first stages r just a taste of food anyway it's not vital for them to be on three meals a day straight away x as her interest increases so will her appetite x just let her tell u when she wants it x good luck x I have a spoon refuser and it's messy but she just picked up the food and shoved it in her mouth lol ( soup was fun :o )

Food is for fun until they're 1. It doesn't matter. Keep up the usual amount of milk feeds and try BLW. Just put some food on the highchair tray and let them decide whether they want to eat it or not.
And step away from the health visitors!!

Watching with interest as 6mo DS is exactly the same. I'm supposed to be back at work in 6 weeks and he won't take a bottle either so I'm panicking a bit!
