BLW teething issues - advice/encouragement needed!

DD is 6.5 months and started out BLW (she started grabbing from our plates about 5.5 months) very happy to chew on bits of fruit/veg, pasta, breadsticks etc and was definitely swallowing stuff (nappy evidence) but now her top teeth are breaking through and shes not at all interested in anything... suddenly very keen on spoon feeding (she always refused a spoon before now) - any advice? should I just wait it out till her teeth are through? is it a bad idea to spoon feed for a bit whilst her teeth are sore?? Im still breastfeeding whenever she wants it - which is often!

it was so lovely watching her feed herself and discover all these new foods but now she just seems to get cross or bored or just want milk. am I worrying over nothing?!

My 7mo DD was similar recently when her bottom teeth were coming through. I just fed her lots of milk (presumed she wants the comfort when she has toothache!) and once the teeth broke through she started eating more solids again.

I don't think it matters too much what and how much they eat at this age, so I'd just go with what she wants :)

I don't see anything wrong with spoon feeding. As long as you aren't chasing a baby all over the kitchen, distracting her with toys and sneakily put a spoon in her mouth! It's better to be guided by your LO isn't it? Also have you tried teething gel? Or give her some soothing finger foods like cucumber, on top of the spoon feeding?

squirrel007 - thanks for your support. I dont know why I worry really because I know its best to do what she wants! I just start to question myself when I hear all these other babies eating pots and pots of purees! its good to hear that other babies behave similarly when their teeth are bad though - poor little mite!

onelittlebabygirl - hii :) thanks for your advice - Ive just started with the gel and it seems to have helped a little bit, she had a few days when she loved cucumber and it was all she wanted but now its more bread or cheese!! Ive been giving her a bit of mush on a spoon but only once shes done with the finger foods and only then if she wants it. its so hard to know whats best!
