Refuses to drink

My 10 month old has been on solids since the age of 6 months. He eats a variety of fruit and veg but refuses point blank to drink any water - have tried bottles, cups, straws and he still writhes around and screams. He's breastfed but I will be needing him to take some fluids as I have a couple of days work coming up soon. Any suggestions? Incidentally he has no teeth and is really reluctant to have finger foods too...!!

Will be watching with interest since i have teh same problem with my 9mth old

Had the same problem with both my girls (aged 3.5 and 13 months now). I just persisted in offering it to them and eventually they took to it. DD2 still doesn't drink much but it's worth persisting.

the best way to introduce it is during mealtimes. Offer the cup with the meal and then leave it in their reach on the highchair tray so they can handle it, play with it, maybe try to put it in their mouth by themselves. Alternatively have you tried offering water from an open cup (or your cup) instead e.g. doidy cup

Have taken your advice and just keep offering. He still writhes around but managed to get him handling the cup and a couple of drops down. Don't remember anything like this with dd but hey he will learn eventually!
