Keeps choking on finger food

My dd is nearly 8 months old and getting on okay with the whole weaning lark but I've been trying her on different finger foods and she often gets bits of toast and carrot stuck in her throat or chokes a bit as she's eating. Is this all part of her learning? She's not keen on lumps in her food yet either. I have to watch her like a hawk, it's scary!

If she's just gagging rather than choking then that's OK - it's just getting used to the sensation of having lumps in the back of her throat.

If she's not keen on lumps yet then the easiest way to deal with it is to make her food less lumpy, and try lumps again in a week or two. There's no rush, she'll take them when she's ready.

My dd was v scary too, she was a choker. I'd honestly go with much softer things if I were you or even leave finger food for a bit if you're worried.
