Allergies

Hi all

I just wondered if someone could tell me what I need to look for in terms of cows milk allergies.

DH has severe excema and asthma and is intolerant to dairy. DS is almost 7 months and I gave him dairy for the first time yesterday (3 spoons of yogurt) and the same again this morning. Both afternoons we have had unexplained episodes of screaming during which I thought he had tummy ache. Also has a bit of a red bum.

Being a bit cautious about allergies due to DH. We haven't yet tried egg or fish which we were going to try this week.

Thanks all!

Hi there my DH has eczema and is intolerant to dairy too. I couldn't fully breastfeed and we realised very early on that our baby was intolerant too - he was screaming and had reflux. Now he is bigger - 10 months - a sore bottom is a sign that he has accidentally had some (via my breastmilk even though I am very careful). We are being very cautious about weaning too. Luckily my DH and my DS are both ok with goats milk (but that is only true for a minority of people with dairy intolerance).

There are lots of different charts on the web about when to introduce different foods... and they all say different things! We are leaving fish and eggs until 1 year though (even thought there is conflicting advice about this...)

Thanks for that link, I'll have a good look.

Have ebf so far and haven't had to cut out dairy so far - although DS did have reflux earlier on.

Am thinking maybe sore bum is down to phenomenal amounts of pop since weaning but it's good to know it can be a sign on intolerance. No sign of excema so far, thank god.
