I started weaning my dd at 4 months of age and she was soon eating half a jar of savoury food and half of sweet twice a day us a weetabix or porridge for breakfast. In between she was breastfed on demand and through the night. At Christmas we got her on to formula but I still breastfed through the night (sometimes up to 6 times!!!!). However, for the last couple of weeks she has just gone off food!! Breakfast has been hardwork and I thought it was maybe because dd had fed so much from me in the night so last night dh and I rocked her to sleep so she had no food from 10.30 last night. I was do looking forward to giving her her formula this morning because I thought she would be ravenous!!!! I wish!!!! She has drunk 1oz and refuses any more!! I then put some of the milk on the weetabix which she will normally eat but she had 2 spoons and won't have any more!!!! Dd is healthy and lively but I can't stop worrying that she isn't eating enough!!! People keep saying she will eat when she is hungry but after 9 hours without food in the night I would have thought she would be hungry!
Anyone had similar experiences and what did you do??

She may be teething or coming down with a cold. Please don't restrict milk, at 8 months most of their calories should still come from milk. Let her bf or have formula when she needs it, keep offering solids but don't stress if she doesn't take them. As people have said to you, she will eat when she's hungry.

My DD1 regularly used to go through stages like this when she was around the same age, they would always pass- usually a few days at a time.

At 8mo, she's too young to be restriced milk, especially bf. Like Pozzled, I think your DD might be teething or has a cold. When my DD feel poorly, all she wants is bf. (It's very cuddly as you could imagine). She will not be interested in her food. DD got bronchiolitis when she was 7mo, and paeds are happy for her to just be bf for days. It's all they need at this age.

Don't worry about the food. Give her as much bf (and ff) as she wants. She'll eat when she feels better.

Thanks for those comments. The thing with the night times isn't just about the food, dd has got into bad habits abs wakes up at the same times each night and simply uses me to get back to sleep. My milk supply is just about non existent so she isn't getting much from me.
I know that dd could simply survive off milk but I forgot to mention, she drinks less than 15oz of formula each day and I know she should have more. Most of this is taken in her 3pm and bedtime feeds. Maybe I'm just a worrier!!!!
