Weaning 1 year old from breast

I have breast feed my DD for the first year of her life and am now ready to stop but she is not! So how to wean?

She eats solids, takes a sippy cup with either milk or water happily. She also BF's at least 4 times a day: morning, before naps and at bedtime.

I am not sure where to start. She will 'ask' for milk by ruffling my top and gets upset if I don't give it her. I understand that I need to distract her but...she seems to have a one-track-mind. So any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks CB

Why bother, if you at going back to work she can still feed, morning and evening and at weekends.

Why bother? Hmm Maybe because the op said she was ready to stop?

I weaned DS2 at 18 months. Did it very gradually, dropped one feed a week. Made sure he had snacks at typical feeding time and tried to get out the house quite a bit in an effort to distract routine.

TBH, it wasn't as difficult as I was dreading! He was fine with it.

Also, the naps were the worst ones to drop here, so I gave DS2 some cows milk in a beaker just before his nap and kept the rest of his routine (bar the bf) exactly the same. Breaking the feeding to sleep association was far harder (in the night) than stopping feeding per se. Well it was here anyway, but every baby is different! Good luck.
