When to introduce a fork?

obviously this will depend on skill levels and enthusiasm of baby but I'm wondering how I will know when to try giving DD a fork?

She's nearly 10mo and usually happy to stick the spoon in her mouth when not distracted, but whilst she's pretty good at that, she's still fairly clumsy with other objects and forks clearly carry more of a stabbing risk!

my 2 got on better with a fork than a spoon to start with as they could stab the food with it and the food was more likely to stay attached to it. I'd give her one and see how she gets on

I think I gave ds a fork (a small cake fork type thing) from about 14 months - he'd started to want to eat off my fork rather than his own spoon so I gave him his own one.
