Hi, I have started to wean my lil one at 6 months with baby rice then porridge with my own fruit purses etc, I was following the gf guide which seemed to be working.. I almost got to the the bit where I was introducing protein and then my ll one got sick and just reverted back to having milk feeds only. This is almost a week now and she is not interested in all the foods I am trying to give her veg, cereal nothing. I'm quite concerned as also the last three as she is dropping her mid afternoon feed and only taking water, today she has had few mouthful of cereal 200ml milk, 100ml milk for lunch and didn't want any solids and this evening I can guarantee she won't eat her porridge and only 100ml of milk. Any ideas? Do I start from the beginning again for just one meal and with veg or shall I start blw and what foods? I'm freaking out and getting stressed as we were going so well and now she is not interested - help!
She doesn't wake up at night either but I'm not sure if she is teething at the mo as she seems not to be poorly anymore. Just want her to eat ok. Also shall I just feed her veg or go to the next stage which I was going to try with protein dished like chicken casserole?

OK - first thing, don't worry. When people are ill they often go off food, and babies are people :)

Until she's 1yo food is just a supplement to her milk, so one day she might eat loads, then for a few days she might eat next to nothing and that is fine. Just keep offering and if she takes something, great, if not, don't worry.

As a BLWer I don't know what the GF weaning plan involves, so can't comment on if you'd have to go back to the beginning if you want to carry on with GF. If you want to just give her food and try BLW to see if that gets her to try things, then do. There's no 'need' to give food in different stages.

You can give her anything at all apart from:
honey (until 1yo)
whole grapes (halve or quarter them until she's 3yo as they are a choking hazard)
whole nuts (nut butter or chopped nuts are fine, they're a choking hazard in whole form until about 5yo)

and just make sure whatever she eats contains as little salt as possible.

:)

I am having a similar problem with my 7 month old. She went into hospital for a week with bronchiolitis & ever since has refused to be spoon fed so I've reverted to BLW and now she is quite happy to sook on broccoli, rusks, toast, veggy fingers etc. The above reply is very reassuring tho Smile
