Baby wont eat ??

DS (8 months) has basically stopped eating or drinking milk.

He was doing really well with his weaning until last month when he got a chest infection which made him quite poorly for 2 weeks so we didn't focus on food, just milk.

Now he's recovered from that, but is teething big time and has been for the last week so he clamps down on any food bar yoghurt and for the last couple of days it's a huge struggle to even get milk into him.

Any tips what I can give him to help get some food in that his gums may like ?? It's becoming a bit upsetting and frustrating. I had him weighed last week and he hasn't put any weight on in the last month.

We've tried BLW but he has no interest.

mini all of the suggestions above are good ones. Is he ff? Have you tried offering the bottles before solids? Its not realy an issue at this age if he is missing out on solids but it is an issue if he won't drink his milk. Try giving him ibruprofen or paracetamol 20 mins before his bottle as this will help the pain with his gums. You could always try a teething gel like Dentinox before offering solids too.

A chunk of cucumber to chew on is quite soothing too and if he likes yogurt have you tried things like cool rice pudding or milk jelly?

Thank you all for your help. Yes he is FF and thankfully in the last couple of days his milk has picked up so I'm slightly less worried. He's still refusing most food bar porridge or yoghurt but at least he's having those I guess.

He's 8 months now, do you think we'll need to go back to the beginning weaning wise as this has been ongoing for almost a month now, will he have forgotten it?

Tooth still isn't through, though all the signs have increased a lot too. Thank you for your tips, I'll definitely try them

If he's 8 months there is no need to go back to the beginning. No that he has no interest in blw but there is no need to offer purees at 8 months. If you want to spoon feed could you just mash up what you are having and offer that? I'd also offer the finger foods, like Sitting's suggestion of a frozen banana sounds like a good one to try and so does her suggestion of sweet purees mixed with milk.

Try not to get too stressed though over what he is eating, at this age getting the milk into him is far more important. Just keep offering a little bit of food often and stay calm if it's refused Smile.
