I would really appreciate some advice please! My DD is 7 months old. We started weaning her about a month ago and all is going well, except she has started waking up in the night hungry. She was waking up every few hours at one point, although this has settled down a bit, I don't think she is getting enough milk during the day since we started weaning her. Her routine is as follows:
6.30 am ish - wakes up
7am - milk (usually totally uninterested in this and maybe has a couple of oz)
8am - breakfast - rusk in milk with some banana (goes down ok)
9am - nap for 30/40 mins
11am - lunch - 2 courses - good portion sizes although not as big as Annabel Karmel suggests!
I then offer her some milk - not really interested - couple of oz
12.30 - nap for 1.5 hours ish
14.30 - milk - usually good feed - 6oz
5 pm - tea - 2 courses
6 pm bath
6.30 pm - milk - maybe 4 oz
7pm - bed

Foolishly I was thinking that she'd be sleeping through by now! She did used to on occasions, but now she wakes up at 9.30/10 pm and has 6/7 oz, then again at 2.30/3am for another 4oz, I'm sure this is why she isn't hungry for breakfast, and so the cycle starts again!

Sorry to go on, but I guess my question is, how do I get her to up her milk intake during the day and decrease it at night? Should I be offering her milk before her solids or afterwards? She has never been a particularly hungry baby and I worry that if I offer her milk first she won't eat any solids.

Any suggestions? Many thanks in advance.

you could try doing milk at 11am and then lunch at 12ish and see if that helps her take more milk. My ds had a feed in the night till 8 months although from 6 months I started cutting down the amount offered in the night bottle until he stopped waking for it.

Thanks for advice. I did give that a go yesterday and she did seem to take a lot more milk, although hardly any solids. Unfortunately, she then woke up at midnight, 2 am and 5 am, although I didn't feed her at 5am. She has now had about 3oz and refused any solids for breakfast. Aarrgh, it's so frustrating! It feels like she has decided to only drink milk at night and not during day and I don't know how to swop it back again! Confused
Thanks again, I'll keep at it!
