dd now 8.5 months and refuses to try lumpier food. Tried everything. Own food and jars. Loves finger foods though. Any ideas gratefully received

My ds couldn't tollerate wet lumps on a spoon till way past 13 months, he was just about OK with finger foods. Your DD is only 8.5 months so just take it steady and follow her. As you said she loves finger foods so just give her more of those and she'll soon get the hang of it.

If it's any help, I went straight to finger foods with my ds (just lazy and desperate to feed him the same as dd). He got on fine with that and now eats almost anything we give him.

if she's eating finger food then i'd not bother with the lumpy puree - no need for her to 'learn' how to eat food (which is the idea behind purees) if she's eating the real thing!!

My ds was also weaned onto solids without purees without any problems at all. Better to follow babies cues imo.
