Weaning and cows milk?

Have just started weaning my DD who is 5.5 months. Can I use cows milk to miz up baby rice or other foods? I am exclusively breastfeeding but I find expressing for the purpose of using this milk in mixinng up foods time consuming. Should I get a few packets of formula to mix up foods? Or can i use small amounts of cows milk??

I always thought you can't have cows milk before 6mo. But reading this page from the NHS it seems to say its safe to mix your purees with cows milk.

am confused too as she's just under 6 months and not sure if i should mix with formula for time being..expressing takes too long to do every day just for purpose of mixing it wirh foods..

Fresh bm stores in the fridge for up to 6 days. And I was using just a teaspoon at a time. It wasn't hard to express for purees while I never managed it for feeds. Even 20-30ml lasts for ages!

I used cows milk. It's not like you use masses of it. No history of allergies in my family though.

5.5 months will be fine to give cows milk in food - there's no magic switch that goes off at 6 months :)

DD has had cows' milk on her weetabix (low salt ones) since she weaned at 6 months. She has also had a drink of cows milk in the morning, just 2-3 oz when she's at Grandmas. She doesn't have cows' milk at all during the weekend. We don't have any allergies or intolerances within the family. I think as long as it is not their main source of nutrition/milk then the odd oz here and there doesn't cause a problem.
