hiya
am trying new tastes with my dd, yesterday I got some avocodos (can't ever remember having them myself) I've stored it in the fridge, is this ok, also don't want to use it all and going to wrap it in some cling film but how long do they last for and aren't they expensive 1.19 for one!! mind it was in M&S couldn't be bothered to go to supermarket, ta

I think avacado goes rock hard in the fridge.

avocado is fine stored in fridge, but can also be in fruit bowl / cupboard

cut in half, mush up

cling film other half and put in fridge it will keep about 24 hours ... you will have to slice off the top brown but its fine underneath

its also quite nice mashed with banana btw

until it's mature (should feel a bit soft), keep it outside the fridge. Storing it in the fridge will slow down the maturation process, if you don't want to eat it straight away. Once it's cut, store it in the fridge for not longer than 24h.

shellybelly - not a daft question! I have done same (was cheaper at Sainsburys I should add). Mashed with banana sounds like a good idea as DD loves banana but I was also going to try it as a finger food as it's hard to get her to take anything other than fruit mashed and fed on a spoon (even that is hit and miss). I imagine the avacado has to feel very soft on the outside for it to be ready for this (she has no teeth)? It has some give atm but not much.
Sorry, not familiar with avacados as it is something I've never thought to buy for myself!

to stop it going brown dont remove the stone (ie cut in half and leave the stone in the bit you are keeping for later)
