DD is nearly 7m - do we still have to give cooled, boiled water or is tap water fine?

Thanks

i think tap is ok...

hoxtonchick · 07/01/2006 22:03

my dd is 6 and a bit months & i give her tap water. i'm quite bad at remembering though. and she makes comedy faces if it's too cold. so in fact i'm relying on breastfeeding to keep her hydrated...

You can give tap water from 6 months according to the rulebooks. That said, ds had cooled boiled water until he was a year. Hell, I don't listen to the rules - rock and roll!!!

hoxtonchick · 07/01/2006 22:04

doesn't cooled boiled water taste nasty?

popsycalindisguise · 07/01/2006 22:08

i thougth it was tap water at 12 months....
I have been giving it to ds2 since he was abotu 8 months

hercules · 07/01/2006 22:09

I though t it was 1 year but i gave much earlier.

orangina · 07/01/2006 22:10

I've just started to give dd (9 months) filtered tap water. Boiled water still in her bottles though.....

NewYearsRacerLution · 07/01/2006 22:13

Mixed opinions so far... I don't think the boiled variety tastes too bad as DD seems to love it, but I have to think in advance to set some aside before I have a cuppa, which is a drag !

i was wondering about this too. My ds is just 8 months. So do i still need to boil water for bottles? Also do i need to continue sterilising bottles until hes a year old?

Aloha · 07/01/2006 22:52

Tap fine.

Aloha · 07/01/2006 22:52

You don't need to sterilise either - a scrub with hot soapy water or a turn in the dishwasher is fine.

NewYearsRacerLution · 08/01/2006 14:00

I have liberated DH and I from sterliser, boxed it back up and put an advert at work. We only make up one bottle a day, use it fresh, so I'm sure we've been overly cautious (yes, I've read the threads on sterlising, very enlightening!)
