Travel and feeding regression

We've recently returned from a month in NZ. DD (8mo) seems to be having a kind of feeding regression. She has always been keen on putting the spoon in her mouth herself but now point blank refuses. She was also right off her food yesterday. She's not quite over the jetlag yet so I am hoping it's just a kind of protest at the tiredness, unsettling nature of 3 days travelling, and the miserable winter weather. Does that sound likely?

Try not to worry too much. At about 7-8 months we went away and DD's routine was disrupted a bit by travel (although we only went to Europe not NZ, so no jetlag for us), and a similar thing happened. She went from eating anything and everything to just wanting milk and sweet things. She settled over there after a day or two, and then went a bit funny when we travelled back, and then settled again.

I don't really know why, but I think tiredness, change of routine, change of water (even tho still safe water, maybe it just feels a bit different to their young tummies), and perhaps even just consciousness of change of circumstances (i.e. from a mental/emotional pov, lots to take in, lots to process, all very tiring), maybe they just kind of go back to what's safe and familiar for a bit, like comfort food after a hard day or something (that's just my conjecture BTW, not saying it's fact).

I just fed what she wanted, and then started again with porridge/veg/fruit etc. and put meat & dairy back in after a day or two and she was fine.

Thanks! In fact she started picking up the spoon again yesterday :) though now she's come down with a stinking cold (not a sniffle the whole month we were away, back for 4 days and guess what... Sigh) so I expect she'll go a bit funny again!
