Baking for baby, has anyone done any baking for their baby?

Hi,

I am sure I read somewhere online about baking to use up some baby rice, but of course now I cannot find that again. Has anyone baked anything for their baby?

My LO is 8 months old and I was wondering if there are recipes for baking biscuits or something? I was hoping for healthy ideas, avoiding sugar etc.

Thanks.

My 8mo DD likes the carrot muffins and the spanish apple cake from the BLW cookbook. (they might be on the BLW website too). They don't have added sugar, just the sweetness from the fruit. Doesn't use baby rice though.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that website I'll go have a look. Sometimes I just need a few new ideas!

Hi,

Wonderful book I would recommend (I often get it as a gift for friends with babies) is Lizzie Vann's Organic Baby & Toddler Cookbook.

The recipes are wonderfully practical in the quantities (nothing stupid like 1/8 tsp) and DD loved them as a baby. Some recipes I made up into larger quantities so we could share as a family/freeze some for another day. Age-wise it goes from weaning up to pre-school age, so lots of ideas for snacks as well as meals.

Two things you might like are the biscuits (made and sweetened with banana and honey) and the fruit bread (a bit like a fruit cake, but slightly more dense - good for cutting into fingers for small people to wave around).

I know I sound like an advert, but I first found this book in the library and liked it so much I bought my own copy. I found it more useful than the Annabel Karmel family bought for me (although her burgers made with grated apple are yum).
