Weaning problems

Did anyone else have problems when they started weaning? DD ate loads of babyrice for 4 days and since then it has been a struggle - have tried carrot and apple puree to no avail. Did anyone else suffer rejection in such a short period of time? What did you do?

I would leave it for a week or so before trying again.

How old is your DD? Maybe she's not ready?

My DS1 took well to weaning, but my DS2 refused all purees, and just went straight to finger food. Even so, it took about a month before anything actually went down.

DD is 25 weeks old

I'd take it easy, offer some finger foods, and see what happens.

If you try finger foods, you're less likely to end up in a struggle. She'll eat if she wants to, and not if she doesn't. No point in making food a point of struggle for you both.

Sorry to be dumb but what types of things constitute finger foods at her age? Is it just sticks of cooked veg?

There are lots of good threads here about first finger foods.

Depends how concerned you are about allergies. Sticks of steamed veg are good. Anything chip-shaped, essentially. I offered chicken at this age, it breaks up naturally into chip-like shapes. There are bread sticks and rice cakes available for babies, too.

OK thankyou
