BF and the start of weaning....

Hi, my LO is 5.5 mo, and i have just started weaning her on hospital advice as she has bad reflux. She is combination fed milk wise but i have noticed in the last week or so she is taking so much less milk from me. She is still taking from the bottle fine. I assumed she was just much more efficient but it is literally down to about 3 mins total now so out of curiousity i offered her a bottle after last night and she totally gobbled it down!
At tea time when i offer her solids i give her a cup to play with and some water and I'm wondering if this is just part of her development to want the bottle more (and hold it) or is she being "lazy" as the bottle is easier? She has had a cold so i thought that might be stopping her but she is clear now.
I'm wondering if my BF days are starting to reach a natural conclusion?
Would really appreciate your thoughts.

FYIW, breastfeeding is very fast with a 5mo. My DD was down to 3-5min by 4 or 5 months, and she's EBF. (She'll only stay on for longer if she's fallen asleep. I always just unlatch her myself by the 10min mark now). I've noticed for a while that I finished feeding before the ff babies are half way through their bottles.

Ofc every baby is different and maybe your LO is dropping her bf. You won't know unless you replace her ff with bf isn't it? I guess you just need to think what's more important to you. If you want to continue to bf, maybe you need to think about removing the bottles, because they'll naturally drop milk feeds once they get established on solids.

Have you been breastfeeding before solids? The food is just for fun until 1, so just tastes and textures.

I guess it depends how attached to breastfeeding you and LO are, whether you want to go full out weaning and giving the minimum amount of milk from a bottle per day, or if you want to continue to breastfeed.

My LO is 9 months and has been down to 5 mins for a while now, he is just far too curious. Mixed feeders preferring the bottle was that they can still look around while feeding or even take it with them when crawling. When breastfeeding of course they can only look at mummy who that all ready know inside out and knows will always be there :)

Good luck
