Pork casserole with cider in it - ok for a 9mo?

I've made a pork and apple casserole for tea, its got about 200ml of cider in it. It was in the oven for 2 hours so I assumed that all the alcohol would 'cook off' but now I'm not sure if I can give it to 9mo dd or not. Any advice on whether or not its ok would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would, like you say the alchol will be cooked off.

Thanks Whiter, I was beginning to fear I would have to prepare yet another meal.

That's risk it!!

I don't know how authoritative is this. But according to this page, 10% of alcohol is retained after 2 hours of cooking.

I seem to remember HV telling me no pork till after 12 months as it's quite tought to digest. The Cider should be OK though as will be cooked off.

Mine loved it Grin

After all my worrying, dd was clearly disgusted by the prospect of the casserole and swept it off her tray without it ever reaching her mouth. It was an impressive move that only allowed her beloved peas to survive.

I'll use apple juice next time!

But even if 10% of the alcohol ia retained, given the amount of cider that would be present in a 9 month old's portion, it's nothing. Cetainly no more than was in a dose of old-fashioned gripe water. I would definitely do it (but I'm like that - plus I am old - we didn't fret about those things when mine were born, and they were all weaned while the midwife was still stitching me up Wink)

My biggest concern would be if it was too rich and difficult to digest - just add lots of mashed potato or rice or whatever.

I've given my 7 month old strogonoff with brandy in it Blush though it does get flamb-ed off and it was finger food so I doubt very much actually got ingested. Apparently back in the 70s as a baby I was given brandy to settle my stomach before I'd even made it out of the hospital! Shock (that may explain a few things :o)
