Weaning--times of 'meals' between feeds- confused.

My DS is 6 mths and Im about to start blw. Im confused when to fit meals in between milk feeds and naps if you have to wait an hour between milk and food. His day roughly goes like this;

Somewhere between 7.30am and 8am first bottle.
Around 8.45 nap (sleeps anything between 45 mins and 1.5 hours)
second bottle anywhere between 10.45 and 11.45 ish.
Second nap 12.30/1sh. (sleeps hour to 2)
Next bottle between 2.30 and 3pm.
Third nap 4.30 (sleeps an hour)
Bedtime bottle 6.30 to 6.45.

Do I have to wait an hour after his feed and does it matter if he has a meal right before he goes for a nap. I don't want to reduce his nap times, at the moment hes rolling a lot and gets tired. The max time awake is 2.5 hours and I put him down if hes showing he's tired before that.

When should I time his meals or am I getting too hung up on this and should just give him food when there seems to be an opportunity and a routine will emerge as he gets older and sleeps less (but what if he doesn't sleep less!)

Thanks.

Just give him food when you are eating, or it is convenient. You don't have to time it.

I just sat dd with us at mealtimes. It was impossible to 'schedule' it.

It's the start of weaning - so just let him sit with you at breakfast, lunch and let him steal try yours, which just happens to be appropriately cut into finger shaped pieces Grin

You can work up to meals when he's a few months in.

I guess i will have to change when i eat then as i tend to grab something when hes asleep (and rethink my diet ryvitta and cottage cheese lunch!)

Yes I used to eat when DS slept. Weaning changed that and I started sleeping when he did. Bliss!
