Softened water for babies as a drink

We have a water softener that goes to all our taps. We have just started weaning our 5 month old daughter so we need to give her water as a drink. Does anyone know if softened water is ok to give to babies under six months if it has been boiled? I can't find an answer. Also is it ok to give her softened water straight form the tap once she is over six months?

I think from memory, filtered water is ok after 1yr. Up to that point it's tap water only

does the softener use salt to soften the water? If so, then I wouldnt use it for your baby. Do you not still have a tap that provides unsoftened water? Filtered water is ok but not softened

Filtered water is fine, but definately not artificially softened water, even in formula.

Softened water has salt in it so no-one should be drinking it.
I would be surprised if all your taps were connected to the softener.
All our bathroom taps, bath, showers, washing machine ect are connected to it but the kitchen sink one isn't specifically because you use it for drinking and cooking.
There are ways of testing which taps are getting the softened water with some bit of paper (like litmus I suppose) which you hold in the running water.
Babies under six months should have boiled and cooled ordinary tap water, filtered is ok but not bottled mineral water.

From memory, you can't give it as a drink to anyone as it is very high in salt. Like MedicalEd, I'm surprised it is connected to all taps. I'd thought your first tap, ie the kitchen one would not be connected.

Hi! Hope someone can help. I know softened water (I use the Kinetico 2020c) is not good for making baby formula milk.

Is it ok for washing the bottles though? Doctor says better to use unsoftened water which means I will have to install a new pipe to line the unsoftened water to the kitchen floor?!

I have a baby of 4 months now.

Thank you
