Oh that's a lovely age to introduce him to virtually anything.

(although might be messy)

What worked for us was a mix of finger foods and then stuff you can spoon feed (baby permitting!)

So lunch could be sandwiches followed by fruit and/or yogurt. I used to do beans on toast for everyone, but kind of mash the beans a bit onto the toast for the baby so they can pick up pieces of toast with beans kind of spread on already.

For tea/dinner if he enjoys self feeding he might like broccoli/cauliflower florets, strips of cooked potato/carrot/root veg (steam or boil until soft). Whatever protein you are eating yourself. (my children always found meat/chicken a bit chewy so I sliced that very thinly for them)

How about risottos/stir fries/cottage pie.

When mine weren't keen on meat I sprinkled grated cheese over their veggies.

Baby can eat anything you cook from scratch, you just need to use low salt stock cubes.

Shepherd's or cottage pie, lasagne, pasta and sauce etc, etc..

There are loads of ideas on the recipes link.
