Do 1yo should be allowed home-made pizza?

My DS is almost 1yo (without few days). I cook baby-safe foods for my both children (soups, stews, cauliflower cheese, pasta, chicken, lasagne etc). DS loves eating everything. I will be making home made pizza and wonder whether he should be allowed to have some. Mainly because it?s open-baked (gets crusty), dough has a bit of salt, olives and some garlic on top? just can?t decide whether to cook for him separately, something else?

my DD has been having homemade pizza from 13m and loves it! all in moderation :)

Seriously? What are "baby safe" foods Confused I'm sure the minimal amount of salt he will eat will be fine, same as giving him a cheese sandwich.

They can have olives, garlic, bread and cheese from 6 months

"Baby-safe" means I don't put any salt and I only boil/steam/oven bake in foil. No crusty/burnt edges whatsoever. Thank you for the answers.

He's going to have to learn to eat crusty or crunchy things at some point.

My 10m old had her first slice at 8m. Its a firm favourite.

My 7mo DD had her first slice of homemade pizza last week. I must be a bad mum coz she's already had pizza hut and nandos Blush.

I think you're fine. DS (15 months) was originally a bit of a fussy eater but he's loved homemade pizza since I first started giving it to him around 9 months (at the peak of the fussiness). I've not worry too much about the salt content as the rest of his diet is low in sodium. He loves knawing and sucking on the crusts; they've never been a problem.

it'll be fine! all of mine love homemade pizza and have had it from an early age.

hope he enjoys it :)

Mine also loves it at 8 months!

One of my favourite memories of DD is her first pizza at about 11 months. She had one piece in one hand, 2 in the other hand and she was trying to stuff it in her mouth as quickly as possible.
She loved it.

Have you done pizza yet, Confused? How did it go down?

FannyLogan · 05/11/2011 20:40

My 6mo old is having it tomorrow!
