my little man is 4months old at present going back to work in january. He will be going to childminder will he need to be weaned prior to arrival?

only your childminder can tell you that - I would speak to her first. But do you mean 'totally on 3 meals a day' or 'just beginning food' because probably the latter is more realistic given his age.

beginning food as he will be six months when he starts, bit nervous to be honest about the weaning process , how long does it take do you know?

well, I have done it twice now, but am hard pressed to give a timescale! It's one of those things that can't really be rushed but it does massively depend on how much he actually takes to eating - you won't know that until you start!

Some weaning advice books will give you a suggested schedule for what foods and mealtimes to phase in first. Get a few different ones from the library/check the internet as this will give you more of a ballpark timeframe.

Weaning is fine, everyone eats, and most children take to it just fine from the get go. Don't worry about it but do sit down and have a good chat with your childminder nearer the time, so you are both following the same schedule and know exactly who's doing what.

Hope this helps!
