Runs (sorry if TMI)

My dd (6 months) has got the runs. Sad

I was just about to change formula from SMA to Hipp as she was getting constipated. However yesterday in using all my supply of SMA up I think one of the cartons was off Shock. I thought it smelt funny, was completely in date, DH said I was being silly, so I gave it to her. Ever since she has had the runs. (she has also tried lots of new foods over past few days so could have been that too).

She is completely fine in herself but I have changed about 8 dirty nappies today. I noticed what she had for lunch was in her nappy by about 5pm Confused. She was very hungry this evening so I gave her some porridge before her last bottle.

However, she is in the process of being weaned, she has 2 meals a day, porridge at breakfast and a mixture of purees and finger food at lunchtime with some yoghurt after. She is getting her 20oz of milk.

The question is do I just continue as we are and still change her milk in a day or 2?, or keep her on just SMA for a few days with no solids, so that there is nothing that is going to make her worse. (am finishing off the tin of SMA - have one days worth left).

How is she now Natzer? Has she recovered?

Natzer · 28/10/2011 17:01

No, she still has the runs and now a cold too! I decided to buy another tin of SMA and just a few bland solids (root veg, no fruit). I have never seen so much poo!

She has now got terrible nappy rash too. Poor little mite, and she's still smiling Grin

Poor little thing, have you tried Metanium for the nappy rash? It really helped mine when they were sore.

As long as she's not dehydrated I'm sure she will be fine.

Hope she gets better soon [hsmile]

Thank you jilted I have been using bepanthem during the day and canestan at night.

Trying to get water into her is really hard, have had to resort to warm squash, but at least it works. Thanks

I'd give the Metanium a try Natzer know lots of Mums who've tried the ones you've mentioned and then gone onto Metanium. Usually you put it on at night and the rash is gone in the morning, tis magic stuff [hsmile].

If she is a bit reluctant to take water it may be worth talking to the Pharmacist tomorrow about rehydration sachets.

[hsmile]

Thanks - will go and get some tomorrow.

As soon as the poo stops she can have plenty of nappy free time.

She is taking the squash and I am adding some extra water to her milk.

Thanks again.

jilted you were right Metanium is amazing. The rash hasn't gone yet nor has her poorly belly, but her very sore nappy rash is looking much better.

Thank you Wine
