We have been doing blw with ds, and up until a couple of weeks ago he was great with eating his finger foods and trying new things.

He then had tonsillitis, poor soul, and since then will just window wiper everything onto the floor.

He'll eat if he's spoonfed porridge, yogurt, but is off finger foods generally, won't even have a biscotti, or makes very little effort, ie, he had a half hearted suck on a strip of steak tonight.

I'm persisting with the blw, always offering, but it mostly gets ignored. I really don't want to go down the spoonfeeding route: is this just a phase? I know food is fun until 1, but I can't help feeling worried in case he never eats properly !

Help and reassurance please?

I would go bacjk to feeding him soft, easy food and leave the odd thing on his tray to feed himself. Be casual about that food and don't offer it. Chances are he felt sore when he was eating while ill and remembers it. Be calm and he will soon get back into it.

My DD really struggled with eating and I had to go back to pureeing/blending at 9 months and she caught up and is 8 now and eats normally.

Thanks, FAB. I think it's probably the route I'll need to go down. Feels like such a step back, but your story gives me hope!

Sometimes you can't go forward without going back a bit first.
