Can anyone offer me help as to how to prepare baby rice?

Stick a teaspoon in a bowl and mix with about a splodge of made up formula (or boob milk.) Stir for about 30 seconds. Decide if it is too thick and if so, add a bit more milk. My LO likes it nice and thick but start with yoghurt consistency to start and progress to wallpaper paste.

Does the bowl need to be sterilised? Do you use the milk from a normal bottle of formula or do you make up some extra formula?

Hi Plum

I have been mixing a level teaspoon with just under 1oz of milk, EBM in my case, but you can use formula. These proportions seem to give a nice runny consistency (I am trying to keep it runny to avoid constipation). You have to mix it quite well to get out lumps of dry powder. Once it is mixed I am then adding to fruit or veg purees.

No need to sterilise. I usually make up a couple of extra ounces and he tends to not finish the bottle so I use some of what is left.

Does the same rule apply about using the milk within an hour from when you made it?

Yes, I imagine the 1hr rule is there if it is leftover milk.
