Weaning - Tips and Advice Needed

Hi,
I,m going to start weaning my little girl soon and am looking for some tips and advice etc.
Also, can anyone recommend any good weaning books. I've seen a few on the main shopping
sites but they're quite expensive, so if anyone knows of any within a skinflints price range,
I'd be grateful if you could let me know.

I've heard that The Contented Little Baby Book of Weaning by Gina Ford is quite good. Don't know how pricey it is though. I know there's a free weaning ebook here. www.weaningyourbaby.com. Have nt tried it but hey it's free.

I've got the Baby Led Weaning book by Gill Rapley from our local library! It's free, unless you are llike me and forget to take them back !

We also got given some Anabel Karmel cooks books.

I recommend Annabel Karmel for the puree approach, and Gill Rapley BLW Cookbook for baby-led weaning. Take it out of the library to have a look first if you want before you decide on which approach to take. Though Gill Rapley's one is a good read even if you are going to do purees. It's got a great explanation on the whys and hows of general weaning. Also, you'll have to do finger foods at some point at 6-7mo, and Annabel Karmel's finger foods is a faff, so you are better off stealing BLW ideas for that.

the Gill Rapley book is great even if you're not doing BLW.

a week or so before you're ready to start give her a spoon to play with and get used to, so the first week or two of weaning won't be all about playing with the spoon and getting used to the feel of it in her mouth.

Join the Hipp club via their website and they'll send you a weaning chart which is good for the first few weeks, and some samples and vouchers. I think Ella's kitchen do a weaning guide, I've had loads of freebies from them too!

The good thing about this book is that the recipes are things that we'd like to eat too
