Any tips on essential weaning kit?

Going tomorrow to completely kit myself out with weaning kit (again! gave all last lot away - oh how times have changed money wise!)

Cant remember what was good and what I didnt need - what do you/did you use that you couldnt live without?

the only thing you need is a spoon, but a normal teaspoon would do.
a small bowl with a lid could be usefull for outings, but tupperware type bowls do the job.
in essence: you don't really need anything

oh, maybe a beaker for water, but then again, oder babies are fine drinking out of an open cup (with help of course).

a mat for the floor. I use an old duvet cover. umm, thats it really.

A bib with a scoop saves a lot of grovelling around for dropped food. Just looking at my son who is currently ignoring his breakfast - something to sit in, a tray with food on, an optional spoon for splashy stuff, a bib, a beaker. That's it.

A baby and some food. Everything else depends on how you want to do it.

Antilop highchair (can be hosed down in the shower or garden if necessary), lots of bibs, food, baby.

Just a highchair, and a spoon, and a sippy cup for water.

What else is there?

spoons, plastic bowls, bib (scoopy bibs are good for sticking in the dishwasher and easy for going out), high chair, lots of flannels for full body washes after meals. I have to puree ds's food so find a small blender (this one is great) really handy.

Ha ha what the bloody hell did I buy last time then im trying to think lots of special spoons promising the earth...and freezer pots, trays etc eeerrrr Im thinking I may have been suckered in by advertising!! As I cant remember anything that was a godsend and nobody else seems to be able to think of any must haves ...

I have a silicone freezing tray which makes tablespoon sized fingers. Best thing ever. When frozen, pop your fingers of purée into a freezer bag and defrost as much as you need. Takes up much less space than individual pots. (I still use it now for pasta sauces and the like and DD is 2.6!)

Even cheaper than flannels, i chopped up a big cheep fleece (no need to hem), they are softer than flannels and dry almost as soon as they are out of the washing machine. I have found freezing thing in silicon cupcake cases really good. I make up a load of cheese sauce, say, fill up the cases, freeze them, then once they are frozen, pop them out and put them in a freezer bag.

I have some sillicon cup cake cases in the cupboard v good one that :0

i'm loving bibs with sleeves at the moment and the 99 p shop has them for 99p!
apart from that face clothes and a plastic spoon. (1 will do i have 6 and use the same one for each meal anyway!
oh and i noticed yesterday that sainsbury's had sippy cups for about 1 pound.
oh and a fleece for the floor. it washes and dries very quick. I'm using one i got from ikea which i think was £1.

plastic bowls if you're going to give the baby the bowl. Otherwise could start looking like a Greek wedding just went through your kitchen
