which bib to get?

Went to mothercare the other day and completely Confused about all the different ones - do I get one with arms or without, one with a lip to catch spills or not, a plastic or towelling or cotton one...... decisions decisions Wink . Am off shopping tomorrow so any advice or specific bib recommendations? Some of them are quite pricey so I don't want to keep trying new ones - want to go in and get one or two or however many you need so it's done and dusted. At the minute we are just using bits of kitchen roll as bibs as i'm lazy .

always found the ones with sleeves best and towelling (not plastic)

Weve mainly the ikea l/s ones. They did have towelling l/s ones in poundland last week though

I have found the best bibs ever from poundland - they are plastic, they do not have sleeves but they are long and wrap around the back so ds doesn't tend to pull at them and try to eat them as he does with other shorter ones. They are sleeveless but at the minute when I feed him I take hi t-shirt off and he just wears a sleeveless or short sleeved vest underneath so no sleeves is not really a problem. They have animal motifs on like "cheeky monkey" and "hungry hippo", but don't let that put you off, as they are def the best ones I have found. And they are £1 each, obv!

Well, I used to swear by the sleeveless apron ones that velcro at the neck (some have an extra tie at the waist too), as we do blw and keeping things off his arms is key to maintaining a little bit of cleanliness by the end! But now I can't feed him without the tommee tippee roll and go bibs (with a lip), as I can just about hook the lip under the rim of the high-chair tray making an almost fool-proof catch-all tray between mouth and floor, and I rarely ever have anything to pick up off the floor, and everything he drops is there in the bib to scoop out and pop back on the tray.

Although, I remember now that I am also a bit cross about the roll and go bibs, because they stained really easy with his first o at spaghetti bolognese (great fun if dong BLW!)

thanks for that. I'm not sure we have a pound land near us though Hmm Sad

I wonder if getting a ls towelling one and then the plastic tomee tippee one with a ride and putting them both on would work Hmm

That is exactly what I do - a long sleeved one from sainsbury's then tommee tippee roll and go one on top. Pretty good combo!

Get cheapy ones. The mashed banana ruins all of them anyway.

I have pre bought a stock of Ikea l/s for DS.

I bought JoJo ones with DD. They were rubbish and a lot more expensive!

Agree with moulesfrites - Poundland's wrap-a-round bibs are grea, but only really for purees.

For finger foods, we have a bib with a lip.

And for 'desperate times call for desperate measures' we have a stock of disposable bibs (Poundland again, I think!) - they're made of some kind of porous material and you simply throw them away after use. Awesome.

But as 2cats2many said, get cheapy ones. DS has some lovely bibs that I never use because they will get ruined.

Another vote for long sleeved bibs. I got a cotton one from Sainsbury's which is great, but then DH found some towelling ones online that are plastic-lined on the body (The Petite Belle) and were really cheap (£1.99 each). [quote 'petite10' for 10% off!)

Although a squirt of vanish gets them clean I figured if they only lasted 6 months that would be fine. I'm kind of hoping meal times may get a little less messy after a while (wishful thinking perhaps!). We can always buy more at that price.

And yes, get lots. I have 7 currently and with 3 messy meals a day I'm struggling to turn them around so they're dry in time. DD had bibs with damp sleeves today. We've just ordered 4 more.

well, I've bought a couple of plastic backed towelling ones with long sleeves. No poundland here so got them from John Lewis but only a couple to see how they go. I also got a tommee tippee plastic roll up bib with a lip. Tried it out last night and dd just spent the whole time licking it Hmm . I'm off to hunt down cantmakecarrotcakes bib recommendation Grin
