Baby Vitamins

Can anyone recommend some vitamins for 6 month old? Ideally I'd like something that I could add to purees (so preferably not orange flavour!)

Thanks!

Can I ask has a doctor or HV advised you that your baby needs vitamins?

DrMouse · 10/08/2011 10:49

no - just reading Annabel Karmal and River Cottage weaning book - both seem to say if baby is bf it is a good idea to supplement with vitamins A/C/D at 6 months. Is that unusual?

Never heard of baby needing vitamins unless they have health problems?

Are you breast feeding and introducing purees? If so I think baby will be getting everything it needs

My HV advises those vits for babies breastfed beyond 6 months. Not necessary for formula fed babies.

My HV says it's new advice that all bf babies should take vits from 6mo. I looked in the supermarkets and only waitrose stock one that's suitable for babies that age. Maybe you can have a look there?

Iirc it's to do with rising rates of rickets and lack of vitamin d in this country.
