My ds used to be a brilliant eater, however for the past month he has been refusing meals etc and prefers to eat finger food.
Now I am at a loss...Do I still offer him the meals, but if he refuses just give him what I know he will eat, ie babybell and petit filous !!
Or do I just give him finger foods only, and if so, any ideas of what I should be giving him for a varied diet?
He has so far this morning refused his weetabix but then ate a slice of toast.
Please give me some suggestions/idea's what to do...

Have you tried letting him use the spoon or are you trying to feed him? DS has been doing the same recently and I realised he wasn't refusing the food over finger food, but he wanted to feed himself. I know it ends up horrendously messy but its a stage they heave to go through. As for finger food - try veggies raw or cooked in sticks (carrot cucumber etc) strips of cooked chicken breast cheese (edam/cheddar etc) really anything that he can hold and chew.

Hi, never thought of that, i have been feeding him myself, better get the waterproofs out if he wants to have a go
Just back from the doctors and he has an ear infection, think will just let him eat what he wants for the next few days if he is feeling off

Can this be true for an 8 month old as well. My DS was quite a good eater but now is refusing to open his mouth to have a spoon put in. He will open wide if I'm putting bits of food in his mouth (toast, fruit, chicken, fish, vegetables) but just will not take food off a spoon. Not sure feeding him from my fingers is a good habit and whilst he can pick bits of food up from his tray himself, he gets it into his grip and then can't transfer it into his mouth.

Any advice?
