Where did you feed baby before able to sit unsupported?

Just started weaning my 6 month old last week, all going well - she can't get enough of the foods!
Am struggling though to find the best place to feed her, I have been using a combination of highchair (too slippy even with reigns at the moment), Bumbo or on my lap. I think I'll start confusing her if I don't stick to one place?!

one of those cloth bouncy chairs, the ones that have a metal surround with cloth over it, reclines at nice angle

i used to have mine in her bouncer and once she sat up unaided at 8mths, it was hard to feed her in the bouncer so i bought her a highchair in the end

I started weaning my dd at 4 months so to start with I used her bouncer chair and if we were out, the car seat but I think by the time she was 6 months we bought her high chair and we used that.

Bozza · 24/11/2005 10:03

DS in the bouncy chair. DD was in the high chair even before she was on solids just so she could sit at the table with us. We had a padded high chair which reclined though and I put a towel behind her.

Buggies are good for this stage
Pad out the back of the h/c with cushions so she doesn't slump too much
I don't think it will confuse her, tbh. A spoon is a spoon!

a metal reclining chair, not a bouncy one but a sturdy one that you could adjust so it was quite upright.

bouncy chair, pram or my lap.

aloha · 24/11/2005 10:26

Why would it confuse her? I eat all over the place!

Enid · 24/11/2005 10:27

it was padded and cloth on the outside, not totally metal

Mum2Millie · 24/11/2005 14:07

Thanks for all your responses, think I'll carry on doing all 3! It obviously isn't a problem to chop and change.
Out of interest on another subject, what quantities of food were you doing at the 6 month stage, we are on 3 meals a day (plus 4 bottles)I can't seem to shovel the food into her mouth quick enough! and she cleared every bowl so far. I'm doing 6 icecubes worth at each meal and nearly a whole weetabix for breakfast.

Thanks

We weaned our DS at a few days short of 6 months but he was not sitting unsupported till 7 months. So on lap to start with (agree someone else's lap is better than yours!), then car seat (didn't have any of the other things so made do with what I had). It sounds like she has a good appetite - my DS wasn't eating that much until much later (but can't remember when exactly.)

car seat

buggy

pram

lap
